Duterte to meet more ‘friends, allies’ in days ahead: Palace

President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to meet more “friends and allies” in the coming days as the country shows a downtrend in Covid-19 infection, Malacañang said Wednesday.

Acting presidential spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles made the statement after he confirmed that Duterte met with several lawmakers in Malacañang yesterday evening.

“With active Covid-19 cases now on a steady decline and now that we are feeling the positive impact of the government’s vaccination, we expect the President to join similar gatherings with friends and allies in the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nograles described the President’s meeting with lawmakers, many of whom were his friends since he was a Davao City mayor, as “informal and relaxed.”

“It was, for the President, an opportunity to see friends he had not personally seen since the onset of the pandemic due to the restrictions that had been put in place,” according to him.
