Come to Manny! Koko Pimentel launches ‘Balik PDP-Laban’ for stalwarts swayed by Cusi

Senator Aquilino Pimentel III is ready to welcome back members of PDP-Laban who sided with President Rodrigo Duterte in a fight that has split the ruling into two factions.

Pimentel said PDP-Laban stalwarts who feel they have been “misled” by the faction chaired by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi can return to the ruling party through what he called the “Balik PDP-Laban program.”

“Ang gagawin namin, pero doon lamang ito sa mga talagang, ‘yung parang feeling nila namislead sila, parang naloko sila, meron kaming ‘Balik PDP-Laban Program.’ Pero doon sa mga leaders talaga ng power-grabber o breakaway group, hindi na po open ito sa kanila,” he said in an interview on DWIZ radio Saturday (December 4).

Pimentel, who’s allied with Senator Manny Pacquiao, said PDP-Laban stalwarts can join the program to resolve legal issues with their candidacy in the 2022 elections.

“Para ito sa mga naisyuhan ng CONA (certificate of nomination and acceptance) na PDP-Laban, para lang ma-legitimize na rin ang pagtakbo nila, kasi baka maquestion pa ‘yan. Dadaan sila sa proseso. Aayusin ‘yung pwede maayos,” he explained.

Pimentel’s father and namesake was one of PDP-Laban’s founders.

Pacquiao leads the PDP-Laban faction that broke away from the Duterte-Cusi wing. The senator, however, is running under the PROMDI party while the ruling party does not have a presidential candidate after Senator Bong Go backed out of the race.
