Pero walang pilitan! Roque says ‘better’ for Marcos Jr. to apologize for his father

By Prince Golez

Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, who is running for senator in 2022, believes that presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. should apologize for the mistakes committed by his late father.

Thousands of Filipinos were killed, tortured, and detained late strongman Ferdinand Marcos’ martial law, dubbed as the dark chapter in Philippine history.

Roque, however, said he would not force Marcos Jr. to apologize for his father’s dictatorship, adding that the former senator was only 15 when martial law was declared in 1972.

“I don’t think we can impose on anyone the need to apologize. It’s up to them. If they feel there’s a need then they should,” he said during an interview with ANC’s Headstart Monday.

“It would be better but it’s not something I would insist upon,” he added.

Roque is joining next year’s senatorial race under the People’s Reform Party. The Marcos-Duterte tandem has also endorsed him as a guest candidate.
