Bakit resto at salons lang? Escudero asks IATF to allow gradual opening of churches

Former Senator Francis Escudero is calling for the lifting of the ban on religious gatherings in areas under community quarantine.

The Sorgogon governor said government should consider allowing the opening of churches, and not just the resumption of operations of restaurants barber shops and salons.

These activities, he said, should not be classified under the category of mass gatherings banned during the coronavirus lockdown.

“If the IATF is considering the opening of restos & parlors, then they should also consider the gradual opening of Houses of Worship,” Escudero said.

“I don’t think this should be lumped under one category of ‘prohibited mass gathering.’ #Mandoesnotliveonbreadalone,” he said.

At present, the government has limited religious activities to five persons in modified enhanced community quarantine. Religious gathering is limited to 10 persons in general community quarantine places.

The quarantine rules remain in effect until the end of the month unless extended or expanded by the government.
