Be agents of change, Duterte urges Filipino Muslims

By Prince Golez

In observance of the end of Ramadan fasting, President Rodrigo Duterte asked the Filipino people to act as “agents of change” in their communities.

Duterte on Sunday called on the Muslim community to break down the dividing wall between Christianity and Islam.

“As you further carry out your role as stewards of peace, love and understanding, I trust that you will remain committed in breaking down barriers that divide and further estrange us from one another,” the President said in his Eid al-Fitr message.

“It is only in our everyday lives that our religious doctrines find meaningful relevance as it is through our actions and deeds that we attest to the benevolence and grace of the Creator.

“Harnessing the best of our capabilities and perspectives, let us be agents of change in our communities as we contribute to the enlightenment of our nation,” he concluded.

Duterte has declared May 25 as a regular holiday throughout the country in celebration of Eid’l Fitr, the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
