ABS-CBN has suffered another blow to its bid to increase viewership after YouTube shut down Tuesday morning (November 3) the channel of its news division.
According to YouTube, the account of ABS-CBN News “has been terminated for a violation of YouTube’s Terms of Service.” No information has been given, however, about the network’s supposed violation.
ABS-CBN said it is currently investigating the matter and working with YouTube to resolve the problem. The network said netizens can still catch livestreams of its news programs on Teleradyo’s YouTube channel in the meantime.
The Lopez-owned network stepped up its presence on YouTube and other platforms following its failure to obtain a fresh franchise from Congress last July.
In August, ABS-CBN News reported that it had 10 million Youtube subscribers. Citing data from the analytics firm Social Blade, the network’s news division said its Youtube channel was ranked fifth in terms of views by Philippine-based viewers.
