Bong Revilla seeks subsidy for 865,000 film industry workers affected by coronavirus lockdown

Artists and other film industry workers are also suffering income losses from the coronavirus pandemic.

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. has called for the provision of financial assistance to the workers in the entertainment industry, especially those living hand to mouth.

In a public hearing May 29, Revilla asked fellow senators to approve the proposal “allocating financial assistance to film and audio-visual industry that employs around 865,000 artists and creative workers who had been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“The industry is one of the badly hit sectors and a lot of workers, especially those who are on a hand-to-mouth existence, need financial assistance,” Revilla said.

The senator’s proposal was posted on the Instagram page of the Senate.
