Malacañang on Wednesday urged members of Congress to “vote as your conscience dictates” on the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.
ABS-CBN’s legislative franchise expired on May 4. Several bills seeking to renew the broadcast firm’s franchise are pending at the House of Representatives.
Vote as your conscience dictates,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview over state-run PTV-4.
On Tuesday, the National Telecommunications Commission ordered the network to stop operating after its 25-year congressional franchise lapsed Monday.
ABS-CBN was forced to go off air yesterday evening in compliance with the cease and desist order.
