Areas classified as “low risk” for the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak will be placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) beginning May 16, Malacañang announced.
Several low-risk provinces and cities were previously removed from community quarantine.
On Wednesday, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año clarified that low-risk Covid-19 areas will be under “modified” GCQ due to concerns raised by several local government units.
“Maraming mga local chief executives, governors at mayors na nagsagawa ng petition, requests at sinasabi na hindi pa sila handa para tanggalin ang community quarantine,” he said.
