Go out at your own risk! Duterte: COVID-19 threat still serious even if lockdown eases

President Rodrigo Duterte reminded the public Monday (May 25) to take necessary precautions when going out as COVID-19 remains a serious threat.

In his televised public address, Duterte said the easing of restrictions doesn’t mean the threat of COVID-19 has been eliminated.

“’Yung pagpalabas ng mga tao hindi — hindi ibig sabihin na tapos na ang COVID. Nandito pa rin. So kung gusto mong lumabas ngayon — sa ngayon wala pang medisina, walang vaccine, at your own risk ‘yan,” he said.

Duterte reminded the public not to be reckless when they’re out and always practice proper hygiene, including frequent washing of hands and wearing face masks. He said people can end up in the hospital if they contract COVID-19.

“May — ikaw may lagnat ka, may — tapos may oxygen, pero ‘pag ginamit na ‘yang ventilator na ‘yan ibig sabihin niyan ‘yon na ‘yung maskara mo papuntang langit o saan,” the President said.

Duterte is set to decide whether or not to ease restrictions in Metro Manila and other areas placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) before May 31.
