A doctor who teaches medicine at the University of the Philippines Manila is sounding the alarm over the greed of a government official, who is allegedly selling rapid test kits for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at four times its price.
Dr. Minguita Padilla slammed the unnamed government official in a series of tweets, saying he’s taking advantage of the COVID-19 crisis to make money.
“How can some people be so greedy that they are still making money from the misery of our country? Reports have reached project ARK that a govt official is selling rapid test kits for P2000 each. These kits are around 450 to 600 @. He is also depriving those who sell at cost,” she said on April 29.

Project ARK is an initiative of the private businesses for testing their employees for COVID-19 using rapid test kits.
Padilla also took the Department of Health to task for supposedly lying about the statistics of COVID-19 cases.
“Why doesn’t DOH admit that many of the new cases being reported in media are just part of the immense backlog? Why dishearten d public by making it appear that cases are still growing that much when they’re not? As of yesterday, pcr backlog was still more than 8000. Why lie?” she asked.

Padilla asked for the public’s help in exposing individuals who are using the COVID-19 crisis to enrich themselves.
“Most of you care for our country. So I’m asking you to pls pray with me, that those who have used this COVID crisis to line their pockets with impunity, will soon be exposed, their names written in the clouds, and held accountable. We will do our part. But we need God’s grace,” she said.
