Malacañang on Monday urged local government units (LGUs) to provide safer passage for cyclists amid a lockdown against the new coronavirus.
While public transportation in areas under general community quarantine has resumed, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that buses and jeeps are only allowed to carry half of their capacity.
“Sa panahon na limitado ang pampublikong sasakyan, marami ang nagbibisikleta,” Roque said during the Laging Handa public briefing.
“Nananwagan po kami sa mga LGUs, mag provide po kayo ng mga bike lanes,” he added.
In areas under modified enhanced community quarantine, biking and non-motorized transport are encouraged as mass transportation remains prohibited under this condition.
