Napakahirap patawarin! Ping blasts ‘double pricing’ for DOH’s PPEs

The Department of Health will have much explaining to do regarding the price of personal protective equipment it has acquired for frontliners against COVID-19.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson on Sunday cited data reaching him indicating the PPEs bought by the DOH are double the price of those bought by those in the private sector.

He said he will seek an explanation from the DOH’s representatives when they attend Tuesday’s hearing of the Senate Committee of the Whole into the government’s efforts to fight the COVID-19 threat.

But this early, Lacson stressed it would be difficult to fathom how some people can still exploit a pandemic for their own gain.

“Yan ang napakahirap patawarin. Meron ka nang crisis, pagsasamantalahan mo pa ang crisis para sa sarili mong opportunity; may crisis na nga, selfish pa ang (motivation),” he said.

Also, Lacson cited the DOH’s continuing shortcomings on contact tracing, saying claims of flattening the curve in the Philippines are questionable as there is no data to back it up.

So there’s no such thing as flattening the curve sa PH kasi nga hindi pa pababa ang graph natin, ang na-infect. At kaunting kaunti lang talaga ang ating nate-test,” he added.
