Sayang! Ping laments ‘lost opportunities’ from US, European firms’ exodus from China

The Philippines may have lost a golden opportunity to attract investments from US and European firms that are relocating from China amid the COVID-19 crisis, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Sunday.

Lacson said such firms are likely to relocate their operations in the Asian region to another Asian country, but Indonesia has so far seized the lead in this regard.

Sa US lang, 27 factories ang aalis at mag-relocate sa China pero lipat sa Indonesia,” he said in an interview on DZBB and GMA News TV.

He said the Philippine government should grab this opportunity to have factories from US and European firms move here.

Sayang,” he said.

On the other hand, Lacson lamented that instead of taking such opportunities for the country, some sectors are taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic for their own gain.

He cited the “double” price of personal protective equipment acquired by the Department of Health.
