Around 24,028 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have returned to their hometowns as of May 31, Malacañang said.
“Nakauwi na po ang mahigit 24,000 nating kababayang OFWs sa kani-kanilang mga tahanan,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during his virtual presser Monday.
On May 25, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Department of Labor and Employment, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Department of Health to facilitate the return of 24,000 repatriated OFWs to their home provinces within one week.
These agencies may utilize all government resources to transport the Filipino repatriates to their respective provinces, he added.
