By Billy Begas

The House of Representatives will work double time to expedite the passage of priority legislative measures this week, the last week before the sine die adjournment on June 5.

“We resume session on Monday with a full plate of priority bills scheduled for plenary deliberation before we adjourn sine die this week,” said House Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, chairperson of the House Committee on Rules.

Romualdez said the proposed Bayanihan to Arise as One Act (Bayanihan 3) and the amendment to the restrictive of economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution (Resolution of Both Houses 2) will be placed in the front burner as instructed by Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco.

Also to be passed on third and final reading are the measures giving survivorship benefits to members of the National Prosecution Service, Annual Free Medical Checkup bill, amendments to the Batas Kasambahay law, providing permanent validity of certificates of live birth, death, and marriage issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority, providing for the publication of laws in print or online version of the official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation, establishing the agriculture information system, Physician’s bill, and regulating parking spaces and fees.

Romualdez said the “House is also scheduled to approve on third reading various local bills such as increasing bed capacities in hospitals, conversion of medical centers into tertiary hospitals, creating district engineering offices, among others.”
