Somebody has to be held accountable for the remark that the Philippines was already experiencing a second wave of coronavirus (Covid-19) infections, according to Malacañang.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III’s statement caused “fear and panic,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during an interview with GMA’s Unang Hirit.
When asked if someone should be held responsible for this blunder, Roque said: “Sana po.”
But, the Palace official said he would leave the matter to senior government officials.
During a virtual Senate hearing on coronavirus response Wednesday, Duque claimed that the country was now on the second wave of Covid-19 transmission.
The secretary then retracted his earlier pronouncement at the House health committee hearing, saying it was a “casual expression of an epidemiological fact.”
