Tricia Robredo asks gov’t about plan for hungry Filipinos: ‘Kung hindi magkakasakit sa virus, magkakasakit sa gutom’

The coronavirus pandemic has brought hunger to a growing number of people in the country. And now Tricia Robredo is wondering what the Duterte government is doing to address the situation.

Tricia, a medical student, is one of the three daughters of Vice President Leni Robredo.

In a latest post on Instagram, Tricia expressed concern that people might get sick due to hunger instead of the coronavirus virus.

She shared a photo of two men asking for food under a flyover. The two people apparently lost their job as barkers when the government prohibited public utility jeepneys from plying the roads due to difficulty in enforcing safe distancing.

“Photo taken by one of our volunteers from last week’s food dispatch,” the veep’s daughter said.

Tricia then asked what ever happened to the government’s promise to assist people affected by the economic fallout of the pandemic.

“Kung hindi magkakasakit sa virus, magkakasakit sa gutom. Day x of quarantine. Ano na ang plano? Nasaan na ang pinangakong tulong?” she said.

The government has recently started to loosen the lockdown measures across the country to revive the economy. The labor department estimated 4 million Filipinos may lose their jobs while over 2,000 companies will close this year due to the pandemic.
