President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Court of Appeals (CA) Justice Priscilla Baltazar-Padilla associate justice of the Supreme Court.
“This is to announce that Court of Appeals Justice Priscilla J. Baltazar- Padilla has been appointed as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court,” Duterte’s spokesman Harry Roque announced Thursday evening.
Baltazar-Padilla, who was previously assigned to CA Cebu, was among 7 candidates who were shortlisted for the post vacated by associate justice Andres Reyes, who retired last May 11.
Other contenders were Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez and CA Associate Justices Japar Dimaampao, Jhosep Lopez, Ramon Cruz, Manuel Barrios, Ricardo Rosario, and Baltazar-Padilla.
