Duterte to reveal new quarantine rules tomorrow

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte may announce the new lockdown measures on Thursday, MalacaƱang said.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases met yesterday to discuss possible scenarios after July 31.

“I can’t announce it because the President will announce it on Thursday if I am not mistaken and there’s still appeals to be made by the local government units so the recommendations are all preliminary subject to finalization,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview with CNN Philippines’ The Source.

“Let’s just say that things will not be the same. There will be major changes in our response to the pandemic. We now have the capability to conduct more actual testing. We will use our capacity to conduct more testing on a daily basis,” he also said.

To slow the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), the Philippines has adopted varying levels of lockdown restrictions since March.

The country has a total of 82,040 Covid-19 cases as of Tuesday. 26,446 people have recovered while 1,945 have died.
