Magsasaka on terror law: There’s no peace when the weak fear the powerful

Magsasaka party-list Rep. Argel Cabatbat reminded the Duterte administration that there’s no shortcut to peace and order despite the passage of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.

The congressman expressed his fear that the newly-signed law could be used against critics and dissenters of government.

He also said true peace could only be achieved when ordinary Filipinos had no fear of being abused and exploited by those in power.

Malacañang announced on Friday that Duterte has signed the anti-terror bill despite months of protest from activist groups.
