Malakas kapit! Bong Go: Morales stays at Philhealth chief unless Duterte finds proof of corruption

President Rodrigo Duterte still trusts Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) president and Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Morales despite the fresh corruption allegations hounding the agency, Senator Bong Go said Monday (July 27).

Go, however, stressed that Duterte will not hesitate to sack Morales should there be proof of his alleged involvement in wrongdoing.

“As of now, nabanggit niya (Duterte) sa akin na malaki pa ang tiwala niya kay Gen. Dick Morales. Sa kanyang integridad,” the senator said in a virtual press conference after the second regular session of the 18th Congress started.

“Sa ngayon po, as of last night, yun po ang nabanggit ni Pangulo na meron siyang tiwala kay General Morales. Pero pag meron pong napatunayan na merong katiwalian, kung may kinalaman siya, I’m sure sisibakin siya. Dapat mapatunayan na meron talaga,” Go added.

An anti-fraud official of PhilHealth, Thorrsson Montes Keith, resigned last week after corruption allegations surfaced during a heated virtual meeting with his colleagues.

Keith said there’s “widespread corruption” within PhilHealth. Morales, however, scoffed at his claims and dared him to show proof of his allegations.
