Nariyan pa ang virus! Ping appeals to public to limit going outside

The public will have to do their part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 by limiting going outside the house, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Saturday.

Lacson said people should not insist on going out if their outdoor “engagement” is not that important, as they risk infecting others or getting infected if they do so.

“Ngayon medyo masama ang tayo kaya kailangan makibagay ang ating kababayan na huwag mag-insist na di naman importante na lakad ay bakit lalakad pa, sasakay ng pampublikong sasakyan, lolobo ang kaso, nasa 52,000 na tayo,” he said in an interview on Abante Radyo Tabloidista.

He also said the police who arrest protesters who do not practice distancing are merely doing their jobs, even if some protesters try to link their arrest to the newly signed Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.

“Pero gawain ng pulis yan dahil kung hindi, lalong lalala ng lalala,” he said.

On the other hand, he said the Department of Health should level up in terms of testing, and be more accurate in reporting.

“There was a time 14 days ang gap bago lumabas ang resulta, 14 days,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Lacson reiterated his call to the Department of Health to speed up contact tracing as well as to ensure results of tests come out faster.

He cited the case of a member of his office staff, who he said encountered symptoms such as loss of the senses of taste and smell.

He said his staff underwent a test at the advice of a relative, but the result came out seven days after the test.

“So hindi pa rin nag-i-improve ang mga gap sa pagte-test at paglabas ng resulta. Dapat talaga ma-improve yan. Marami na tayong pang-test mga PCR machines kung saan-saan na, at dapat binigyan nila at least man lang 1-2 days nariyan na resulta para di na makahawa pa ang positive na di pa nila alam na positive,” he said.

Lacson also noted the DOH in the first months of the pandemic projected figures showing they were efficient because there was an average of 200 cases a day. But it turned out this was because the testing was limited.
