Palace cites ‘major changes’ in PH coronavirus response

By Prince Golez

Expect “major changes” in the government’s response to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Things will not be the same. There will be major changes in our response to the pandemic,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview with The Source Wednesday.

This means massive testing “beyond numbers that they probably would not have imagined” and invigorated contact tracing, according to Roque.

The secretary said the government is also looking to build more isolation facilities to accommodate asymptomatic and mild patients.

“It’s not so much the classification that will matter, but the new, invigorated responses we will have during this Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

“People will now see the difference in the response that we will have. It is now thoroughly invigorated and part of it is we build capacity, and we now have the capacity what we wanted from the beginning.”

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to announce the new quarantine classifications tomorrow, July 30.
