President Rodrigo Duterte declared July 31, Friday a regular holiday in observance of Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice.
Duterte made the declaration through Proclamation No. 985, which he signed on July 29, upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.
“The observance of Eid’l Adha shall be subject to existing community quarantine and social distancing measures,” the Chief Executive said.
Eid al-Adha is one of the two most important Islamic celebrations, the other one being the Eid al-Fitr or the Festival of Breaking the Fast.
