Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has no interest in becoming the new president and chief executive officer of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
“Napakatindi po ng aking katungkulan ngayon bilang tagapagsalita – kinakailangang magbigay ng impormasyon sa panahon ng pandemya. So, hindi po biru-biro iyan,” Roque said in an interview on radio RMN Thursday.
“So, hindi ko na po iniisip iyong posibilidad sa PhilHealth dahil alam ko naman napakahirap nitong trabaho ‘no at parang… ewan ko ba ho, parang hindi ko naman maiwan sa kalagitnaan ng lahat. At ang sinasabi ko na lang, sandali na lang naman, magkakaroon na rin ng bakuna, so tapusin muna natin itong aberyang ito,” he added.
On Wednesday, the Office of the President received the resignation letter of PhilHealth chief Ricardo Morales, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for lymphoma.
His resignation came after President Rodrigo Duterte asked Morales, who is also facing allegations of corruption in the agency, to step down from office due to his medical condition.
