House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano challenged those claiming that he wanted a deal with President Rodrigo Duterte to reward him for junking ABS-CBN’s franchise by allowing him to keep his position as the Speaker to a lie detector test.
“100 percent false, kung sino man gstong mag-accuse eye to eye, mag lie detector tayo,” he told reporters on Monday.
“Kung sino man matalo sa lie detector ay tumigil na sa kanyang profession. It’s 100 percent not true,” Cayetano said.
“Wala kaming usapan ng Pangulo about staying. Wala kaming usapan ng Pangulo about any reward or whatever sa ABS-CBN,” the Taguig congressman said.
“Ang commitment ko lang sa kanya is to have a fair hearing and then to decide kung anong best sa ating bansa,” he said.
“And on that point I know we disagree on many points with many of our people but it was done as a matter of principle sa maraming myembro,” Cayetano said.
He is supposed to turn over the Speaker’s gavel to Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco after 15 months per an earlier agreement.
Cayetano is reportedly trying to back out of the deal.
