Duterte: Coronavirus vaccines will be made available at police stations

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte wants police stations to serve as coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination centers when a vaccine becomes available.

In a public address on August 2, Duterte asked the Philippine National Police to clean up their precincts as he reiterated his plan to let the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police to distribute vaccines.

“Ngayon itong bakuna ibigay ko sa pulis pati military. Hoy kayong mga pulis, makinig kayo sa akin ha, linisan ninyo ‘yang presinto ninyo and make it ready for the day. I pray that it would come,” he said.

“Iyon na lang mga police station mas malapit at saka marami. Basta doon only requirement is Pilipino ka, wala na. Kung gusto nila magpa-injection ng lima, magpaikot, hayaan mo, sige. If they want to have an overdose of the vaccine, go ahead.”

Last Friday, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said the government can finance the free vaccination of 20 million Filipinos.

Duterte had said that poor Filipinos receiving cash assistance from the government will get priority access to Covid-19 vaccine.
