Duterte rejects call for revolutionary government: ‘Wala akong pakialam diyan’

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte says he has nothing to do with the recent calls made by his supporters for the declaration of a revolutionary government amid the coronavirus disease (Covid19) crisis.

“Marami ngayon may naglalabas… revolutionary government tapos ako ang sinasabi na… Wala akong pakialam diyan, wala akong kilala sa mga tao na ‘yan at hindi ko yan trabaho,” Duterte said in a taped address aired over state-run PTV 4 early Tuesday.

A pro-Duterte group earlier called for the establishment of a revolutionary government to pave the way for a federal system.

Malacañang had said this is not among the priorities of the administration during the pandemic.

“The call to establish a revolutionary government came from a private group and the organizers are free to publicly express their opinion,” according to spokesman Harry Roque.

“The focus, however, of the Administration is addressing Covid-19 and mitigating its socioeconomic impact,” he added.
