President Rodrigo Duterte may be vaccinated with a Russian coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine by May 1, 2021, Malacañang said Thursday.
In a virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte will be injected with Sputnik V vaccine, made by state-run Gamaleya Institute in Moscow, once approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the Philippines.
“Sa Mayo 1, 2021 pa lamang puwedeng magpasaksak ng bakuna galing sa Russia ang ating Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” said Roque.
According to him, the vaccine expert panel will review the results of Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials this September.
Phase 3 testing will be carried out from October 2020 to March 2021, the Palace official said, adding that Russia will fund the trial.
The registration with the FDA, on one hand, can take place in April 2021.
“Yung target date na May 1 ay sang-ayon sa DOH (Department of Health) at Department of Science and Technology,” said Roque.
