Sen. Panfilo Lacson thus questioned the claim by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III that he would go soul-searching if his best was not good enough against COVID-19.
“Corruption in PhilHealth to take advantage of a pandemic is worse than the deadly coronavirus itself because of its evil intent and purpose… Soul-searching is only for people who have souls,” Lacson said in a post on his Twitter account (https://twitter.com/iampinglacson/status/1296595818535776256).
Earlier, Lacson bared a slew of corrupt practices at PhilHealth, including the twisted implementation of the Interim Reimbursement Mechanism (IRM) for COVID-19 cases; doctoring of financial records; and gross overpricing of IT equipment.
Lacson also scored several key PhilHealth officials for trying to mislead senators during the Senate Committee of the Whole’s hearings on corruption at PhilHealth.
