Metro Manila timeout: Time to listen to medical heroes, Ejercito says

The country’s medical heroes need a breather.

Former Senator JV Ejercito has backed the clamor of the country’s doctors and nurses to bring Metro Manila back on lockdown for two weeks.

With the rising cases of infections, Ejercito said the health frontliners are exhausted and merely asked for a breather.

The health sector has warned the country’s healthcare system is on the brink of collapse and urged the government to impose enhanced community quarantine from August 1 to 15.

“Medical Healthworkers are calling on government to declare NCR under ECQ for 15 days. According to them most Frontliners are exhausted and overwhelmed with the rise in COVID patients in the Metro,” he wrote on Instagram.

“The Medical Frontliners are asking for a breather. They are tired,” he said.

Ejercito is hopeful the government will heed to the appeal of the health sector for a timeout.

“Maybe about time we listen to those whom we refer to as ‘heroes’?” the former lawmaker said.
