By Prince Golez

MalacaƱang on Wednesday asked residents affected by the 6.6-magnitude earthquake in Masbate to observe social distancing as a measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).

Despite the province’s lower rates of infection, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque called for vigilance.

“There will be manpower also to ensure that even in temporary evacuation areas that there would be social distancing no because of the threat of Covid-19,” Roque said in an interview with CNN Philippines’ The Source.

“One thing going for Masbate is that they have very low cases of Covid-19, but nonetheless they should not be too complacent even if they will be staying in temporary shelters. They have to observe social distancing,” he also said.

A total of 114 cumulative cases have been confirmed in Masbate. Out of these cases, 61 recoveries and zero death were recorded.
