Palace denies failure in LGUs’ coronavirus strategy

By Prince Golez

There was nothing wrong with how local government units (LGUs) respond to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), Malacañang clarified.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) assigned Cabinet members on Wednesday to provide “stronger” support to LGUs with high numbers of confirmed cases

Resolution 62 directs IATF members to “further operationalize the national government-enabled, local government-led, and people-centered response” against Covid-19.

Roque added that assigned members of the task force are expected to “push for the interest” of local governments in Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces.
