Malacañang welcomed on Thursday the bicameral conference committee’s approval of the proposed Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or the Bayanihan 2 bill.
Lawmakers have approved a budget of P140 billion, with an additional standby fund of P25 billion, to assist various sectors recover from the coronavirus disease pandemic.
“Nagagalak kami na napakabilis ang pagpasa ng Bayanihan 2 bagamat, as of 10 a.m., sinikap kong kumuha ng kopya ng bicam report, hindi pa raw printed. Hindi ko pa ma-discuss,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in his online press conference.
“I think they were faithful naman sa request ng Palasyo, hindi tumaas ng masyado. Ang balita ko mga P160 plus billion ang na-approve bagamat ang proposal ay P140 (billion). We are thankful for the cooperation extended by both houses of Congress,” added Roque.
Bayanihan 1 or the “Bayanihan to Heal As One Act,” which expired last June 24, earlier gave the President authority to realign funds for coronavirus response.
