Palace pays tribute to Manila’s ‘Dirty Harry’

By Prince Golez

Malacañang expressed its deepest sympathies to the bereaved family of former senator and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.

Lim, 90, succumbed to coronavirus disease Saturday afternoon.

“We express our deep condolences to the family, loved ones, friends and supporters of former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim who passed away today, August 8, at the age of 90,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

Roque remembered Lim for his tough stance against criminality and drugs.

“He left a legacy of law and order to his constituents,” he added.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, for his part, cited the former Interior Secretary’s “dedication to public order” and “long years of public service.”

Lim had served as a mayor of Manila from 1992 to 1998 and from 2007 to 2013.
