Malacañang believes PhilHealth chief Ricardo Morales will agree to sign a waiver that will allow the Anti-Money Laundering Council to check his bank deposits.
During his online press conference Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he was “sure” Morales will agree to open his bank accounts for examination.
“Kaya lang naman hindi nakapagbigay ng consent si General Morales, naiintindihan ko na masama ang kanyang pakiramdam at umalis na siya ng maaga. I’m sure General Morales will also sign such a waiver,” he said.
“But, in any case, lahat naman tayong taong gobyerno pag nagfa-file ng SALN meron tayong pinipirmahan sa SALN (Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth) na pumapayag tayo na buksan ang ating bank accounts ng Ombudsman,” he added.
President Rodrigo Duterte had earlier ordered Justice Secretary Menardo Guevera to form a task force to investigate Morales and other PhilHealth officials over the alleged irregularities in the state-run agency.
