Malacañang defended the appointment of actor Robin Padila as Philippine Army Communications Panel Chief.
“Hindi natin maitatanggi na ang media personalities like Robin Padilla… sila talaga ay kilala ng tao at pinapakinggan ng tao,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser Monday.
“Pinapaubaya ko na yan sa AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines), dahil alam naman nila ang kanilang kailangan,” added Roque.
The spokesman gave the reaction following concerns from netizens that the ex-convict, also a known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, is unqualified for the said position.
Army spokesman Col. Ramon Zagala had said that former Army chief, retired Lieutenant General Macairog Alberto nominated Padilla to the position.
