After Pemberton pardon, Alunan calls for release of Palparan

Who’s next after US Marine Lance Corporal Joseph Pemberton?

Former Interior and Local Government Secretary Raffy Alunan has suggested the release of retired Major General Jovito Palparan after President Duterte pardoned Pemberton over supposed unfair treatment.

“Treated unfairly after killing a transvestite? Then free Jovy Palparan. He was doing his duty fighting enemies of the state,” Alunan said.

Duterte earlier said it was unfair to deny Pemberton of good conduct time credits if his jailers were unable to keep a record of his behavior during his detention in Camp Aguinaldo. Pemberton. convicted for the 2014 killing Jennifer Laude, is expected to return to his home country this week.

Palparan, on the other hand, is currently serving his prison sentence at the state penitentiary in Muntinlupa City. In 2018, he was convicted for the kidnapping fo two students back in 2006.
