Former House Speaker Arnulfo “Noli” Fuentebella died Wednesday (September 9). He was 74 years old.
Fuentebella was elected Speaker in November 2000 after allies of then-President Joseph Estrada moved to have all positions in the House vacant following the transmittal of the articles of impeachment against the Chief Executive to the Senate by then- Speaker Manny Villar as Speaker.
The Bicolano lawmaker was unseated as Speaker on January 24, 2001, shortly after then-Vice President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was sworn in as President. He was replaced by then-Quezon City Rep. Feliciano Belmonte Jr.
