Malacañang said it leaves it to the Ombudsman to decide on the release of President Rodrigo Duterte’s 2018 and 2019 Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
“We will leave the matter to Ombudsman,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during a televised briefing Thursday.
Roque said the government also respects the decision of Ombudsman Samuel Martires to implement new rules on public access to SALN.
“Meron tayong talagang Office of the Ombudsman, which is the constitutional body in 1987 Constitution to promote accountability for public officers. Kung meron ganyang rule ang Ombudsman as the specialized constitutional agency to promote accountability, kinakailangan respetuhin,” he added.
Roque, however, refused to answer whether Duterte is open to making public his own wealth declarations for transparency.
