Palace mourns passing of Gwen Garcia’s brothers

Malacañang on Sunday expressed its condolences to the Garcia family over the death of former Dumanjug Mayor Nelson Garcia and Barili Mayor Marlon Garcia.

The two are brothers of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and the rest of their family and their loved ones for the passing of former Dumanjog Mayor Nelson Garcia and Barili Mayor Marlon Garcia,” Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a statement.

Andanar said the former chief executives were “instrumental towards the developments” of both municipalities and of its citizens.

“We pray for the eternal repose of their souls and that their families find strength in this time of grief,” he added.

Nelson passed away on Tuesday from undisclosed causes while Marlon died Sunday from coronavirus complications.
