Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque is urging Land Transportation Office Region 7 Director Victor Caindec to forge ahead with his investigation on the alleged anomalies in the release of motorcycle registration plates and radio-frequency identification stickers in the region.
Roque made the statement after Caindec claimed that Roque’s recent pronouncement supposedly linking him to corruption was part of a “well-orchestrated act” to pressure him to stop an ongoing probe against a group of motorcycle dealers engaged in massive tax evasion.
“There is no person stopping RD Caindec to discontinue his probe on alleged anomalies in his office. Go on with the investigation and pursue it until the end,” according to him.
The secretary said all public officials must have common advocacy on good governance and zero-tolerance against corruption.
“RD Caindec questioned my motive. It is clear as the sun rises in the East: I stand for good government and the Filipinos deserve no less,” he added.
In his September 21 press briefing held in Cagayan de Oro, Roque called out an unnamed LTO official from the Visayas to “shape up” and bring back effective and efficient delivery of service to his office.
