Seniors, youths allowed to visit Boracay

By Prince Golez

The national government has eased the age limit for tourists who will visit Boracay Island.

This means that people below 21 years old and 60 years old and above may visit the world-famous island.

Based on the latest Resolution No. 74 issued by Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Infectious Diseases, Boracay will reopen to tourists from areas under general community quarantine or lower, apart from travelers from Western Visayas, starting October 1.

“Age restrictions for this purpose shall be relaxed. Restrictions as to persons with comorbidities will remain to be strictly enforced,” the IATF said.

Under the September 24 guidelines, only those travelers with a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test result 48 to 72 hours prior to the date of travel shall be allowed to enter Boracay.

Airlines are also advised to land at the Godofredo P. Ramos Airport, also known as Caticlan Airport.

Minimum health and safety guidelines, as well as emergency response protocols, must be in place, and a coronavirus laboratory in the locality must be operational, the resolution also read.
