President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the Department of Health (DOH) to immediately release medicines nearing their expiration dates.
Duterte issued the directive after the Commission on Audit (COA) reported that P2.2 billion worth of medicines and medical and dental supplies have expired, overstocked, or nearly expired.
COA in its 2019 annual audit report said P29 million worth of medicines are expired, P1.14 billion are overstocked, and P1 billion are nearing expiry.
