Mobile internet hotspots: Mayor Isko thanks Ayala for deploying WiFi-enabled school buses in Manila

As the country shifts to distance learning due to the coronavirus pandemic, Manila students who have no internet at home have one less problem to worry about.

The Manila City government has partnered with Ayala-led Globe Telecoms for the deployment of WiFi-equipped school buses around the metropolis. The now-empty school buses have been repurposed to create mobile internet hotspots to bring online access to students.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno took to Facebook to express gratitude to the Ayalas for the latest innovative solution to help students complete their school work online. He said the project showed the importance of cooperation between the government and the private sector to improve the plight of Filipinos.

“Taos-puso po ang aking pasasalamat kina Ernest Cu, President and CEO ng Globe Telecom, at kay Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Chairman and CEO of the Ayala Corporation. Magagamit po ito ng mga estudyante at gurong nag-oonline class,” he said.

“Kapag nagtutulungan po at maganda ang relasyong ng pamahalaan at ang private sector, ang makikinabang po ay ang publiko. Patuloy po kaming magiging mainam, masinop, at episyente na pamahalaan,” he said.

Mayor Isko said the Globe School Bus WiFi will be deployed around Manila to provide internet connection for students holding online classes.

The school buses will visit the following areas:
-Pasaje del Carmen St.
-Remigio St.
-853 Gonzalo Gil Puyat St.
-924 Bilibid Viejo St.
-Tomas Mapua St.
-Alfonso Mendoza St.
-Dalupan St.
-Oroqueta St.
-Basco St.

May mga Globe School Bus WiFi pong ipakakalat sa Lungsod ng Maynila para maghandog ng nararapat na Internet connection…
