Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles is asking the House of Representatives to resume session and approve the proposed budget for 2021.
“I believe that the House of Representatives should convene and begin again budget deliberations and pass the budget before the break,” Nograles told CNN Philippines Friday.
Last Tuesday, the Lower House approved on Tuesday on second reading the P4.5 trillion proposed budget for next year and suspended its deliberations until November 16.
The secretary stressed that there was “no reason” for the House to go on a break without passing the spending bill on third and final reading.
“Remember, the Senate is in session and the House of Representatives has suspended session, which is strange to the ordinary Filipino… There is an opportunity to pass the budget as promised and as calendared,” he added.
Lawmakers are supposed to go on break on October 16.
