Palace says up to DOJ to probe DPWH chief Villar

By Prince Golez

MalacaƱang said it is leaving it up to the Department of Justice if they will investigate Public Works Secretary Mark Villar for allegations of corruption.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier ordered the Department of Justice to investigate its corruption probe to the Department of Public Works and Highways.

‘The President of course will leave it to the task force pero ang opinyon po ni Presidente malinaw – wala po namang bahid ng kahit anong korapsiyon si Secretary Villar, which we all share in the Cabinet,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing.

“Pero ang opinyon po ni Presidente malinaw – wala po namang bahid ng kahit anong korapsiyon si Secretary Villar, which we all share in the Cabinet,” added Roque.

The Palace official said Villar, whom he described as “very well educated,” was “above corruption” in DPWH, adding that he’s too wealthy to be involved in corrupt practices.

“Kung ganito kayaman naman kasi iyong Secretary at alam natin na very well educated, educated in the best universities in the world and mayroon ding untainted record as a public servant, having served as congressman also of Las PiƱas eh talaga naman pong he is beyond doubt ‘no and he’s certainly above corruption in DPWH,” he explained.
