Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque believes that Miss Iloilo City Rabiya Mateo’s win in the inaugural Miss Universe Philippines pageant is well-deserved.
Mateo stood out during the swimsuit and Q&A portion of the competition, said Roque who was among the judges of the finale competition held at the Baguio Country Club on Sunday.
“Si Iloilo, runaway winner siya doon sa swimsuit at saka doon sa Q and A, at least sa akin ‘no. Pero siyempre, napakahirap talaga kasi alam mo iyong mga diperensiya ng scores, I understand, fraction lang – ni wala man lang one point difference,” the Palace official said in a dzRH radio interview.
“So talagang napakahirap mag-judge. Pero standout talaga si Ms. Iloilo doon sa swimsuit at saka doon sa Q and A niya,” he reiterated.
Roque’s statement came after Miss Taguig exposed the alleged violation of pageant rules of one of the contestants.
