The Geely Coolray is one fully-loaded compact crossover. There’s no denying it’s got everything but the kitchen sink when it comes to usable tech. But little did I realize it was packing yet another hidden gem, and it took some prodding from Geely Philippines’s Marketing Manager to find out how it works.
For P 1.198-million, the Coolray Sport packs a lot. Aside from the usual stuff like a powered driver’s seat and a panoramic sunroof, it also has nifty tech such as a self-parking feature, and a blindspot camera that doubles as a blindspot and curb camera (ala Honda’s LaneWatch—only better).
But Ryan Isana, Geely Philippines’s Marketing Manager says that the camera system on the Coolray Sport, particularly the front camera serves yet another function: a built-in dashcam.
Isana explains that the dashcam function is already built into the Coolray Sport variant. All the owner needs to do is to insert a SD card in the slot underneath the passenger’s seat.
Once installed, the Coolray will automatically record clips from the front camera. Moreover, it overlays the footage with vital car functions such as throttle/brake application, headlight status, turn signal light status, and more. Suffice to say, as far as dash cams go, it’s pretty high-tech.
Man, just when you thought the Coolray could not get any cooler...
